What's New For 2007-2008
In 2007 we wrapped up a PT-17 restoration that was the result of 17 years of dreaming, parts collecting, and determination by Dr. William Nice and Scott Ackerson. These two gentlemen deserve recognition for overcoming about every kind of obstacle you can imagine and still hanging in there to see the project completed. Dr. Nice plans on just enjoying some hard-earned pleasure flying, and Scott, whose father served in the Air Corps, plans on finishing up his pilots license.

This plane has a few custom touches like a full electrical system with radios and a Red Line disc-brake conversion.

Below, Dr. Nice takes delivery of 713.

Mike Porter (on right) and his father Andy stand in front of their newly restored Stearman. Mike took the plane down right after Galesburg last year and finished it just in time to be the first arrival at Galesburg this year. Mike did a lot of research and found pictures of his Stearman based with the WASP (Women's Air Force Service Pilots) at Avenger Field in Sweetwater Texas. It was the featured plane on the official 2007 Fly-in poster and was highlighted at the Banquet with an actual WASP pilot as the guest speaker.
In October, we started a Custom 450 project for a new customer, Lynn Crouch. Lynn has owned a 450 Stearman for over 30 years and decided it was time for a new one. This will be a 4-aileron, standard-category Serv-Aero conversion with inverted fuel and oil. It will have a full electric system with radios, preoiler, Red Line brakes and Air Wolf Filter. Here's Lynn at the very beginning of the project.

Dick has started on the last of the 5 wing panels for the Custom 450.
